“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” by Mary Oliver
I was in graduate school when this poem by Mary Oliver was introduced to me. After pondering this wonderful invitation to consider my life, I acknowledged that I am a healer. Inviting other people to heal themselves is what I have sought out to do with my one wild and precious life. The desire and intention were born from living through difficult circumstances and losses in my early childhood. I spent my young adult life healing the broken places. My work with patients is directed toward working with them to arrive at a moment where they can see that their life can go beyond the limitations of their illness and can see the possibilities life can offer them.
